After
a national call for entry was made, the Mayflower Arts
Center Executive Director, Lisa Bauer and
Artist/Co-Curator, Timothy Wells revealed the
artwork/artist selections for the Balance Exhibit on
April 15, 2017. Artwork was selected from entries
received from local, regional, and national artists.
"Congratulations to William Smith and his "Time
Cyclist" mixed media artwork! He was awarded our
#PeoplesChoiceAward for most votes received by the
public during our #BalanceExhibit. The exhibit is open
until June 24, 2017." -

The selections are as
follows:
1st Place: Bicycle Tire Apron #2 - Anita Cooke, New
Orleans, Louisiana
2nd Place: Nirvana - Shawna Hanel, Boise, Idaho
3rd Place: Summers on Camino Verde - Marcelina Gonzales,
Brownsville, Texas
People's Choice: Time Cyclist - William Smith III, Troy,
Ohio
Balance was a juried show of bicycle-based or themed 2D
and 3D work—held in conjunction with Troy, Ohio’s 2017
Sculptures on the Square public art exhibit of Mexican
artist Gilberto Aceves Navarro’s Las Bicicletas—and will
be on display in the Mayflower Arts Center’s Lobby
Gallery, May 1-June 24, 2017.
